We are happy to announce our fall newsletter from V8 Ranch. Take a look at stories and events from the past few months at the ranch!

  OUR FIRST SHORTHORN PLUS DONOR

5041 We are happy to present our first ShorthornPlus donor, purchased from Bauman Cattle in Wyoming. We have been familiar with the Bauman operation for several years, since Ranch House Designs handles their web site and advertising. Jim has also judged several Charolais shows where he has really noticed their cattle and the great job they are doing in their program. For the past few years we have been looking at their sale offering and looking for a th/pha free Shorthorn x Charolais donor cow.

5041 is a Suspect x Shorthorn who's bloodline goes back to Laci Lehman's old Shorthorn genetics from WHR Shorthorns. 5041 was the Champion Composite Heifer at the Charolais Junior Nationals a few years ago, as well as winning several shows for Kassi Bauman. We flushed her this week to Grey Goose and are very excited about the calves we'll have coming soon!

2009 All Americans from V8

In April 2009 the American Shorthorn Association announced the winners for the annual P.A.C.E. Show Program, which recognizes the most successful show animals at a variety of ASA Sanctioned Shows across the country. V8 Shorthorns was proud to have raised 6 All American winners this year. The association names a champion and a reserve winner in each division, as well as 3 honorees for each divisions. Winners raised by V8 Shorthorns include:

  • Miss V8 MOna's Hip Hop ET - 2009 Show Heifer of the Year and All American Champion —Early Spring Yearling Females (1,100 points) Owned by Charlee Teague, Ft. Morgan, CO. What can we say about Hip Hop other than she is the most successfully shown heifer ever raised by V8 Shorthorns. From her showring debut as a baby when she was reserve in the junior show at Denver to being the 2008 National Champion, this female is a favorite of ours. She was Grand Champion Female at the American Royal and Louisville in 2008 as well as Supreme Champion at the Colorado State Fair.
  • Mr. V8 Diego D 50Tg- All American Reserve —Junior Yearling Bulls (430 points) Owned by V8 Shorthorns and Meadow Lane Farms, MO. Diego had quite a run this summer at the midwest state fairs, winning Supreme Champion Bull at the Colorado State Fair. He capped off his career by winning his Division at Louisville this year. Though, he is more of a beef-industry bull than just a fancy show bull. The Bertz Family from Missouri was so impressed with Diego in the stalls at Louisville this year, they purchased him as their herd bull.
  • Miss V8 SULL I'm Fooled ET - All American Champion —Late Spring Yearling Females (495 points) Owned by Charlee Teague, Ft. Morgan, CO. I'm Fooled has been a popular and consistent class winner and division champion throughout her show career. She was a clear division winner in this class, winning by 95 points.
  • Miss V8 greta grey-bo - All American Honoree —Junior Heifer Calf Division (313 points) Owned by Ross Goodrum, Mexia, TX. Greta Grey Bo's highlights include Grand Champion Heifer at the 2009 Houston Open Show, Reserve Division Champion at the Houston Junior Show, Division Champion at the 2008 NAILE Junior Show, and Class Winner at the 2008 NAILE Open Show, as well as several class winners at PACE shows.
  • Miss V8 Monas Jitterbug - All American Honoree —Senior Heifer Calf Division (370 points) Owned by Shelby Teague, Ft. Morgan, CO. Jitterbug was a class winner at the 2008 Shorthorn Junior Nationals, 2008 NAILE Junior Show, and Reserve Division Champion at the 2008 NAILE Junior Show. She was also very successful at summer 2008 PACE shows and state fairs.
  • Miss V8 Mona Michelle 34353 - All American Honoree —Senior Yearling Females (150 points) Owned by Kearns Farms, Waterman, IL. Always a favorite, Mona Michelle was the Reserve National Champion at Denver in 2008 along with countless other wins. She was a division champion at Junior Nationals as a calf in 2007 and later a division champion at Louisville that year.
  • Mr. V8 resolution ET - All American Honoree —Junior Bull Calves (265 points) Owned by Colton Knight, Mt. Olive, MS. Resolution is an outstanding herd sire for the Knight family in Mississippi. Before they purchased him and took him down south, Resolution won several classes as a young bull on the V8 Shorthorns showstring. When Colton purchased him, he became one of the most dominating Shorthorn bulls in the southeast. One of his highlight wins includes being the Champion Shorthorn Bull at the 2009 Dixie National.
Louisville 2008 Snapshots!

We had our best Louisville ever in 2008! At our National Shorthorn Show, we had the largest showstring in the Shorthorn barn and ended up with several winners including breeding Miss V8 Mona's Hip Hop, the 2009 National Champion Shorthorn Female, owned by Charlee Jo Teague of Colorado. Mr. V8 Diego D also was Division 4 Champion in the bull show and drew several extremely positive comments from judge Dan Hoge. Prior to the show, Harold and Melisa Bertz of Meadow Lane Farms chose Diego to become their new herd sire. Here are a few snapshots from Louisville.

V8 shorthorns supreme at colorado!

V8 Shorthorns dominated the recent 2008 Colorado State Fair Open and Junior Show! Our leading bull in our showstring, Diego, was named Champion Shorthorn and later Supreme Champion Bull of all breeds in the Open Show. In the heifer show, Charlee Jo Teague exhibited Miss V8 Mona's Hip Hop to the champion spot on several occassions! First, she was named Champion Shorthorn and went on to be Supreme Champion Female of All Breeds in the Junior Show. On the next day, she did the same thing in the Open Show!
